
Development of Innovation Center in Daugavpils City
Vitensenteret i Trondheim er med på et samarbeid med et vitensenter i Daugavpils, Latvia, gjennom norske EØS-midler (Norway grant). Målet med prosjektet er å etablere/fornye et vitensenter i Daugavpils, i tillegg til å fremme kunnskap og interesse for realfag i Daugavpils.
Vitensenteret skal i dette prosjektet stille med ekspertise på blant annet uformell undervisning og utvikling av utstillinger. Andre samarbeidspartnere i prosjektet er Daugavpils Universitet, Jærmuseet og andre latviske vitensentre.
Totalramma på prosjektet er på 2.011.605 EURO, og hadde oppstart i 2020.
Vitensenteret i Liepaja skal være med på delen av prosjektet som handler om utvikling av utstillinger, som en del av prosjektet «Development of Innovation Centre in Liepaja City».

Project “Development of Innovation Center in Daugavpils City”
The aim of the project is to improve knowledge development and promote career education choice in the fields of STEM and entrepreneurship; offering new educational and learning programmes to teachers, pupils and young people; enhance the accessibility to STEM communication tools and research-based knowledge by strengthening the capacity of Daugavpils Innovation Centre in cooperation with collaboration partners of Latvia and Norway.
Financing
The project “Development of Innovation Center in Daugavpils City” is financed by the European Economic Area and Norway (EEA/N) grant programme “Research and Education.”
Total costs of the project are 2 011 605.00 EUR, out of which:
- EEA/N co-financing 1 538 877.40 EUR;
- Latvia State Budget co-financing 271 566,60 EUR;
- Daugavpils Municipality co-financing 201 161.00 EUR.
Project Description
Daugavpils Innovation Centre will focus on the entrepreneurial side of STEM, with special focus on how young people can develop careers in the sector. The main activities of the project will include capacity building activities, partnership-builiding activities, development of thematic exhibits, interactive and outdoor activities.
Project activities will be implemented in close cooperation with Trondheim Science Centre (Norway) and Daugavpils University (Latvia), as well as Liepaja Innovation Centre and other innovation centers in Latvia.

Project “Development of Innovation Centre in Liepaja City”
Liepaja Innovation Centre will be participating in the part of the project concerning development of exhibits. The joint training will therefore include staff from both Daugavpils and Liepaja Innovation Centre as well as Trondheim Science Centre.

Project description
The aim of the project is to promote knowledge development and career choice of students in STEM subjects and environmental sciences by establishing an innovation centre in Liepaja in cooperation with Latvian and Norwegian partners.
The project envisages development of the Nature House and establishment of the Co-creation Room, which will supplement the Science and Education Innovation Centre (ZIIC) with modern exhibits, technologies and equipment, also with new interest-related educational programmes.
