A Science Birthday gives you plenty of time to explore the exhibition! You can do everything from testing how fast your brain signals travel with our reaction timer, to seeing how long it takes to charge a battery using only your bare hands.

An Astronaut Birthday takes you on an incredibly exciting journey through the universe! Venture out into our solar system, gaze at distant galaxies, or explore the constellations in ways you have never experienced before in our wonderful 360-degree planetarium.

A Researcher Birthday includes a science show packed with super cool experiments! Experience our tricks using safe household items, loud pops, bursts of flames, and fascinating chemical reactions. We guarantee that both children and adults will have a blast!

SLIMBURSDAG (SLIME BIRTHDAY)
A Slime Birthday gives the birthday child and all their guests the chance to make their very own slimy goo to take home!

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
All of our birthday party packages can be adapted for any age group. However, in our experience, younger children (under 6 years old) often get the most out of a Science Birthday or a Researcher Birthday, while an Astronaut Birthday or a Slime Birthday is better suited for older children (ages 6–7 and up).
Ultimately, the most important factor is your child's unique personality and what interests him or her.
On certain days, we host two birthday parties simultaneously, so there will be other guests present in the exhibition area. There may also be other groups visiting Vitensenteret at the same time, using different rooms than your party.

Payment is made during the event. You only pay for the number of children who actually attend, and we will do a headcount once all guests have arrived. There is no need to notify us of changes to the guest count in advance, but please ensure you do not exceed the maximum capacity for your chosen birthday package.
Please note that a minimum charge for 10 children applies, even if fewer children attend.
Your birthday host will welcome you half an hour before the party starts. If you have booked an activity, this will begin one hour after your guests arrive. We recommend eating as soon as the guests arrive and letting them explore the exhibition afterward, but we are flexible and happy to adapt to your wishes.
Please note that the birthday host needs time for preparation and clean-up before and after any activity, but will otherwise be present throughout your entire visit.
On weekdays, we host birthday parties during the following times (please note that two parties may run in parallel):
- 17:00–19:00 (Preparation from 16:30, clean-up until 19:30). The activity will take place at 18:00, unless otherwise agreed.
- 17:30–19:30 (Preparation from 17:00, clean-up until 20:00). The activity will take place at 18:30, unless otherwise agreed.
During weekends and school holidays, we host birthday parties during this time:
- 18:00–20:00 (Preparation from 17:30, clean-up until 20:30). The activity will take place at 19:00, unless otherwise agreed.
Please be aware that Vitensenteret is closed to regular visitors during birthday parties, and the doors will not open until the scheduled preparation time (half an hour before the party starts).
The doors will also remain locked during the celebration, except at the very beginning and end when guests are arriving and departing. The birthday host can help manage the door, unless they are preparing for or cleaning up after an activity. If the host is busy, one of the adult organizers from your party must watch the door while it is open.
Regardless, we recommend that the birthday child greets their guests at the door when they arrive and shows them to the party room so they can leave their jackets and gifts. This usually provides a wonderful start to the celebration for both the birthday child and the guests.
Food and tableware (such as plates, cutlery, and cups) must be provided by the party organizers. We will provide a suitable party room equipped with tables and chairs. If you plan to prepare food during the party, you are welcome to borrow cooking equipment from us, including pots, hot plates, and similar items. We also have juice pitchers and bowls available - please let us know if you would like to borrow anything.
Each room is now equipped with:
- 1 pizza cutter/wheel
- 1 cake server
- 1 cutting board
- 1 cutting knife
- 1 pair of scissors
- 2 juice pitchers
- 1 small pot
- 1 large pot
- 2 hot plates
- 4 small bowls
- 2 large bowls
- 2 serving trays
All borrowed equipment must be washed in the party room before you leave the premises. We provide all the necessary cleaning supplies.
Cancellations or requests to reschedule a birthday party must be sent in writing to bursdag@vitensenteret.com at least one week before the scheduled date. If this deadline falls on a weekend, the notice must be received no later than the preceding Friday.
Less than one week's notice: Canceling or rescheduling less than one week before the event will incur a fee of 775 NOK.
Same-day notice: Canceling or rescheduling on the day of the event will incur a fee equivalent to the minimum price for a birthday party (2,850 NOK).
We provide all the necessary cleaning supplies. You are only responsible for tidying up what you brought with you and washing any equipment you borrowed from us (such as pots or serving bowls). Please throw any trash into the bins provided in the party room and wipe down the tables and countertops. We will take care of the rest.
Please note that food is only allowed inside the designated party room.
You are welcome to bring all your own decorations, such as balloons, tablecloths, etc.
