Move a ball with the power of your mind! Solve puzzles.
This exhibition is for those who love to sit and ponder a mathematical or logical problem. A total of 12 different puzzles are placed around the room. Some are quite easy, while others are truly challenging. It might be a good idea to bring a friend along to discuss ideas with. Here you will find magic squares, as well as logical and geometric challenges.
On the wall, you will see a replica of a woodcut print created by Albrecht Dürer in 1514: Melencolia I. If you look closely, you will discover that Dürer included a mathematical curiosity in the image: a magic square. You might not spot it right away, but this is a real treat. Try adding up combinations of four numbers that equal 34, and see how many such combinations you can find within the magic square. Do you see the symmetry in the numbers?
All the puzzles are engraved and cut using our laser cutter, making it relatively easy to create copies for school use. If you have any ideas for puzzles that would be suitable for laser cutting, please let us know!
