How electricity is generated.
Water is, and has always been, one of Norway's most important resources. Our waterfalls provided Norway with affordable electrical energy, laying the foundation for the production of aluminum and ferrosilicon. Because of this, we have built a hydropower plant in the water room. Here, you can pump water up to a high-level reservoir and watch how a turbine and an electrical generator are driven by the rushing water. You will also find a model of a wave power plant—an energy source that has been widely studied in Norway, but has never become a commercial success.
