STORSALEN

Play, explore, and be amazed among our many exciting physics and mathematics exhibits.

In the physics and mechanics room, you can study key physical principles. You can observe how the Coriolis force and inertia affect metal rings spinning on a rotating turntable. With the orbit exhibit, you can study how planets behave when they come close to two black holes.

Several of the exhibits in this room demonstrate how humans, since ancient times, have crafted tools to make ourselves stronger - using pulleys, screws, levers, rollers, and wedges, and in modern times, using robots. You can also see how an airplane wing is designed to lift the plane as it cuts through the airstream.

Have you ever wondered how an airplane that is so heavy can lift off the ground and stay in the air? In the main hall, you can experiment with various paper objects to see what stays afloat in the air above the Wind Table, or ponder how a ball can hover in an airstream. If you have a hairdryer or a vacuum cleaner (mounted the wrong way), you can even try this at home yourself.

In the main hall, you will now also find our newest exhibits: the plasma ball and the rope exhibit.
