Tungtvann is one of this year’s inductees into the Rockheim Hall of Fame.
«Mørketid» is Tungtvann’s second album. It was met with critical acclaim in the Norwegian press, with several calling it one of the best and most important Norwegian hip-hop releases of all time. Jørg-1’s rhymes and Poppa-Lars’s beats are catchy and inventive, creating a perfect balance between seriousness and celebration!
Here is what Tungtvann themselves wrote about the album when it was released:
“Now we are in 2002, and on «Mørketid» we are taking it a step further. The title obviously plays on our Northern Norwegian background, but also on everyone’s dark times and sides. Is everything really that great in little Norway? The police in Bodø were at least upset by a couple of short lines in the lead single «Pøbla». Without reason?
On «Mørketid» we have actually tried to say something of significance, things you don’t necessarily get spoon-fed – but that should stick around and smolder in the back of your mind. Without us becoming political at all! And as if that weren't enough, this is combined with some seriously bouncing beats, ending up as the best hip-hop album of all time. From Tungtvann, that is.”
